Bradford Dragonboat Festival - Multi Charity Championship 2017

Day three of the 2017 Bradford Dragon Boat Festival saw nine teams battled it out over four rounds of racing during the course of the day to see which three teams would get to compete in the Grand Final.  Round three saw a tenth team The Victorious Volunteer's, (made of just some of the many volunteers) also join the racing.

The fastest time of the day went to the Samurai Warriors from Bradford Jiu Jitsu, who in their second race posted a 1.08.25 time.  The second fastest time of the day was by Socially Minded Mish Mash Splish Splash from Himmat who were raising money for Centre Point and in their third race achieved 1.10.21.  The third fastest time of the day was by Very Hi Strokes from Yorkshire Vets, who were raising money for Cats Protection and came in with 1.10.32, thereby edging a very disappointed Nanak Naam Jahaaz into forth place, who also had a fastest round 4 time of 1.10.81.

The standard of the competition during the heats was amazing with two very close finishes.  Race 12 (Idle Vikings from Wide Mouth Leisure Ltd  vs Nanak Naam Jahaaz from Khalsa Fitness) was a photo finish where with 1.12.07, Nanak Naam Jahaaz in lane 2 just beat Idle Vikings by 3/100ths of a second.

In an even closer race involving the Idle Vikings verses Underground Not Overboard from Bradford Underground Ltd. in race 17, the officials had to consult the finish line camera before announcing a decision.  After much deliberation, the officials agreed that neither team could be split and so that most rare event in dragon boat racing was declared, a dead heat!

The Grand Final was also a very close race between:

Lane 3:  Socially Minded Mish Mash Splish Splash

Lane 2:  Very Hi Strokes

Lane 1:  Samurai Warriors

In 3rd placed winners were 'Very Hi Strokes' who managed 1.12.98.

In 2nd placed winners (and by just 7/100ths of a second) was 'Samurai Warriors' with 1.12.91.
